I saw a few of the 99 and 00 model's dashes at the Nat'l, that design was just plain BAD! Those defrost vents looked like they would have warped if you put a hair drier on them. You would think that with all the recalls and TSB's that came out with the Contour, the stop delivery recalls of the Escape and the Focus, that Ford would learn how expensive it can be to be cheap. For their sake, I hope so. IMO these are engineering, common sense things that you would want to avoid in the first place, spend a little more now to save even more in the future and not just money, PR! Many have said here that the Contour is the first and or last Ford they would get. Let Ford try to figure out the money that they lost with those sales.
