The last tires I put on my Stealth RT were the Firestone SZ50's. WOW! Quietest hi per tire ever - I could hear then engine and exhaust like never, never, never before. I learned about them on some of the Corvette boards. Handled great. These would be great on my 99 SVT (believe me, quiet rubber makes ALOT of difference), only Tire Rack size looks like 225-50 - any experience with them out there - will they rub? I could go down to the 205-55, but don't really want to (would stick with the KDW's).

Indeed they are. AFAIK, SZ-50s and S-02 Pole
Positions are made on the same line in Japan,
and share much of the same technology... they
are likely the same compound, given the kind
of results people get with them... good pick.

I've had SZ50's on my '98.5 SVT since early'00, and couldn't be more pleased! I learned about them by reading a tire test on tirerack.com. They are much quieter, handle a bit better, and wear better than the Goodyear GS-C's that came stock. I did upgrade to a 22-50 size, but had to use 3/16" spacers on the rear because of strut tower interference.
The result with the spacers is terrific....the rear wheels now look more "balanced" with the fronts as to fender-well clearance. Go for it!

Doh! Spacers - I didn't think about using them. I was looking at the car on Saturday and the rear clearance problem was obvious. You didn't put spacers on the front? Thanks for the info.

Just replaced a set of SZ50 with Bridgestone RE730. I would agree with Luke in saying that the SZ50 was a great tire. First impressions of the RE730 is not up to par with the SZ50, but I'm still "testing".
