Well kids, I'm 69 years old and heading for 70 if all goes well. My first new car was a 55 Chevy and, believe me, it creamed all the Fords "right out of the box". When we got tired of drag racing, we used to chalk the tires on the rims and see who could move the rim the farthest in the tire "diggin' out"! That was our first experience with tubeless tires. Yes, tires used to have innertubes in them! Duh!
I just sold my last really hot car on Ebay. It was an 85 Mustang convertible, 5.0L., five speed, which I had bought new. I put a supercharger on it and could run in the thirteens with those crappy Gatorbacks. It had all of 18,000 miles on it when I sold it; I don't miss it at all since it was only good for straight ahead on dry concrete.
I bought a new Contour SE in 95 with the Duratec and truly loved driving it for a year or two. So, when the time came to give up my new TownCar when my wife and I divorced last March, I was shopping for a clean Mark VIII and ran across a 98 SVT. I had not heard of such an animal but, after driving it once, I knew it was for me. I got to keep my 99 F250 Super Duty Powerstroke so I'm happy there too.
Life is good! Enjoy it! Be careful!
Am I the oldest? Do I get a prize?
