I jsut finished cruising around with the Nittos. Awesome tires. They do what I was looking for. The ride is smooth and quiet. I did a couple launches. The frist launch was at around 3-3500. I just wanted to see what was going to happen. The front end wa just hopping like crazy. Then I did another launch at around 2-2500rpms. The car spinds for not even a second and I was off. Great tires. Real sticky. Thats what I was looking for and I am so far pleased with them. I bought 225/50/16 and there is no rubbing problem at all. I would also forgot to mention that the car is slammed by Eibachs.

Both Discount Tire and Belle Tire wanted about $150 a piece for KDW's for my SVT so I said screw it and bought 2 new (I only really needed one tire for the drivers side) 225/50R16 Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's for my 2000 SVT for $200. Also got an alignment to help save the tires and get rid of the "slight" pull to the left I was getting (another $45). Seeing as they were fitted yesterday I haven't tested them fully. But they seem like a good tire and reviews are promising on the Tire Rack. Hopefully they last longer and stay quieter than the KDW's. I'll probably get 2 more when the backs (still KDW's but LOW on tread) wear right down.

When I had a blowout, Discont wantd $150+ for the tire alone. I told them to walk over to their waiting room and pick up a car mag and look at the Tirerack ad. I got my KDW for $100.

What about any of these guys?

Bridgestone Potenza RE910 225/50/R16 - $88
BF Goodrich Comp T/A VR4 215/50/R16 - $64
Firestone Firehawk GTA 02 215/50/R16 - $87

They are much cheaper...but I don't know how they are handling wise, or anything.

Of those three, the RE910 is my pick. But for $2 more, I'd get KDW's again. Cannot give up the grip just for lower noise. Firerocks as they are affectionately named are hard and don't grip. VR4's don't handle well either - a little too soft.

Actually, I'll take a serious look at RE930's depending on the price of KDW's.

Although it is a more expensive tire, some may want to consider the S02 Pole Positions as I believe they will be discounted (and discontinued) at most places due to the new S03's intro - although that may make replacements dificult. There should be good discounts on this max performance tire.

My tire pick is the Dayton Daytona ZR, which I have on my car and love them. 300 Treadwear and a nice trip tire that still has grip in Auto-X and spirited driving.

I don't believe they're available through Tire Rack, but they list for about $125 each. Tires Plus has them for $86.99 a tire in Minneapolis.

Tire Rack has indeed significantly slashed
their prices on the S-02 Pole Position. If
anyone is looking for good value in the high
performance rubber area... this is it. These
things are so good that people are seriously
concerned that the S-03 will even live up to
the performance of the outgoing tire.

As of my last check:

205/55-16: $148
215/45-17: $140

This is a steal! Take advantage if you can...
