I second this. Once your OEM tires wear out at the tack, you can get much lower profile tires (who cares about speedo when racing?) to increase grip. Also, get dedicated track tires (autocross, road course). Despite looking like they have less tread, they will last longer at the track than street tires. It'll be cheaper to replace 16" race tires than 17's.

Not to be nit picking ahole (but what the hell), lower profile tires don't give you increased grip. They might help with turn in and feel due to their (normally) stiffer sidewalls.

I do agree (with ATC and myself - doh!) that going with 16" Kumho V700s, Toyo Proxes RA1, etc. over any 17" street tire is a cheaper solution and will give you a better handling car (faster lap times.)

So if I go 225/45-17, I shouldn't have a huge problem, with rubbing that is.

Luke, this is where I would need your professional opinion, could I put those 225's on a 17 x 7 rim and get that same little belt too tight for the pants look that the stockers do now (for some unknow reason I like the way that looks.)

someone let me know..??

Derrick, nice car man.
