Ive got a 2000 SE Sport with 15" rims. I want to move up to 16" or possibly 17". I know the SVT has 215/50-16 but I was wondering if 205/55-16 would work better. I want to keep the same circumfrence as the 15's so my speedo stays the same. Thanks for any help.

You didn't state the size of your 15s, but I
suspect 205/55-16 is going to be closer. The
1998 SVT runs this size (they changed it to
215/50-16 to sharpen things up a bit more).

You can compare your tire sizes using a tire
size calculator. There's one on this site you
can use:
http://www.miata.net/garage/

It'll help put your mind at ease about change
in the speedo readout.

You can also use 225/50R16. That is what I have on my 98 E0 SVT

I have a 98.5 SE Sport and upgraded to 16" Mille Miglia EVO's, they look great! And went to 205/55/16 Firestone SE 50 EP, awesome tires!! These tires have great cornering characteristics on dry AND wet pavement! Very little difference according to the Miata calculator.

Jim,

Will the 225/50R16s rub in the rear with weight in the back seat/trunk? I could have sworn that I saw a comment from Luke that the rear fenders need to be rolled.

Thanks,
