I think that could be my thing too. I don't really have a shake, just a tiny vibration at the wheel, you really can't even see it, just feel it.
I'm almost certain that I saw those on the lugs when I switched mine, I'm looking this afternoon.

The clip that is being referred to is on 1 or 2 of the lug studs and looks like a thin lock washer ------------------ Luke Pavlick Sales Representative Performance Specialist ASE Certified Master Tech for more info or to place orders please call 800-428-8355 ext. 362 or mention my name when ordering on-line for the best service. www.tirerack.com

Is there just one of these clips on each wheel, so four total??
I hope this is the cure, my steering wheel felt like a vibrator this morning on the way to work.

If the wheel can not sit flush against the hub it will definately cause a vibration problem. ------------------ Luke Pavlick Sales Representative Performance Specialist ASE Certified Master Tech for more info or to place orders please call 800-428-8355 ext. 362 or mention my name when ordering on-line for the best service. www.tirerack.com

Trust me guys, these clips are definitely enough to cause the conditions you describe. It took a trip to my local Discount Tire to find it out. The guy knew exactly what my problem was as soon as he took the wheel off. Needless to say I was thrilled--since I already paid to have the wheels balanced twice.

Ok I just took the clips off. The back wheels had two clips on them, fronts had one. I just went on the freeway and got up to 65mph, no shimmy, 70 no shimmy, and at 75mph then it started to *lightly* (and no where near) the shimmy I had before.
So the shimmy is about 95% gone now. It is tolerable to drive. I could keep on driving it like it is but I dont want to. I have to get this right.
Should I rebalance the tires though I dont see a reason too. I made sure all the clips where off.
Where should I go with this now???
Thanks for any other help you can give me.

Doug, Hopefully the backfaces of your new wheels are warped now from tightening them down on the retaining clips. As this would cause the residual vibration you are feeling. Next step is to try rotating the wheel on the hub, i.e. unbolt it rotate 90° slip back on and tighten the lugs again. Make sure you have the right torque too. For 2000 SVT's it's 100ft-lbs, 99's have 95 and 98's have 85. I couldn't beleive this myself but I saw it on a chart at discount tire. Good luck.

Move the front tyres to the back,if the wheel is fine, then one of the tyres has a slipped belt.If that's the casr the tyre is no good anymore.
