My SVT was riding fine with the stock wheels on at 10,000 miles and I changed to 18x7 Team Dynamics Motorsports with 225/40ZR18 Yokohama Paradas, The ride was fine and stable till about 65-80mph then the steering wheel shakes (shimmys), sometimes more, sometimes less. Then it will then go away and then come back about 5 or so miles down the road. but if I go over 85mph it stops.
I bought the tires and rims online and they were supposed to be balanced. I made sure I used the hub rings (maybe they sent the wrong ones?!?!?!).
I took the the wheels to a reputable tire center and they rebalanced them and I watched them do it and all the wheels were balanced. I get back on the highway and still it has the same shaking problems at 65-80mph.
Do you think I might need a alignment since I got bigger rims and different tyres???
Do you think one or more of the tires are out of round???
Is this common and should I just ride them some more to see if the tread needs to be broken in, I've only had them for 2 days now and have put 300 miles on them (yes, I know I drive alot).
Maybe I should take the plastic hub rings off???
Luke or anyone that wants to chime in on this from experiecen please do. Thanks
