Most car rags tested V6/MTX Tours. One comparo test in Car/Driver had a Zetec/ATX, (why?) and they got something like 0-60 in 10.5 s.

2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO.
Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

If you know how to trip the Computer into Sport shift without going to WOT it's less. Not much but at least .3-.5 seconds

It would be close.

The stock ATX Tour 2.5 does 0-60 in low to mid 9s. Yes the ATX saps that much juice.

The stock MTX Focus 2.0 is pretty snappy and could do mid to high 9s.

It will be hard to find magazines that have done their test with the required transmission and engine comparisons listed here.

I've read, and have in my possessions every single issue of Car & Driver publised since July 1984.

Searching my personal memory bank, here, a Contour V6 ATX was tested 0-60 @ 8.8 seconds - I'll never forget that figure, 'cause I found it to be a lot slower than the 7.6 seconds they quoted for a V6 MTX in a different test story.

The Focus MTX on the other hand is a dog. Eqquipped with the Zetec, it will hit 60 in 10.0 seconds, again according to C&D, and that's for the lightest model, a stripped out ZX3.

Handling is another story. Pit those two against one another in the twisties, and it'll be a lot closer than in a straight line.

Sorry to dissapoint all of you Focus fans, but the 'Tour' would/should win every time. I have a 95 LX ATX with the 2.5, and I can say that on more than a few occasions I have beaten Foci(plural for Focus?) at the "track" bone stock. Most of my competitors were stock, but there were a few with some minor mods, and none of them presented a problem.

and how many were at MTX??? cause I know MY MTX Zetec Contour can keep up with a ATX Duratec Contour with similar mods. and the focus is lighter by 200 lbs which is giving is a little edge in the quarter, I had heard from one of the local performance shops for every 100 lbs you will gain .1 in the quarter. go on focaljet and look at the times of alot of the focus owners... there are alot of MTXs running mid 16's bone stock I have never seen a ATX duratec do that stock.

I doubt that. Magazine times are around 16 flat. That's definitely slower than a V6 MTX.
I've seen one run at the local track and it ran mid 16's.
