You may not have to wait till November. My brother said he saw a Mazda "6" the other day. He doesn't know cars and never heard of it before, that's why he told me. I showed him pics and he said it was the "6". Maybe ya'll could find some early "6"s around somewhere, especially if one is in south Georgia.

I've also heard that the next generation Mazda 6 will be released as a Ford product in the US in a year or two. From what I've read in Automobile Magazine and Road and Track , this is an good choice for the auto enthusiast, with stunning looks and a well-balanced chassis.

As you probably know, the current European Mondeo is a very flattering clone of the VW Passat, which would make a very nice replacement for the Taurus if they ever chose to bring it stateside. Knowing the bean counters (and Ford's current financial straits), an American Mondeo never saw the light of day because the Taurus was cheaper to build.

1999 SVT TRed/Tan. Upgrades: Pioneer DEH-9300 head unit, 6 disc changer (under passenger seat), MTX Pro 400x5 amp, Boston RC620s front & rear and MTX 10" sealed box sub in the trunk. New headlamps with PIAA Xtreme White 9005/9006 bulbs.

Taurus is slated to last until 2006, then it will either die or be a 'fleet only' car, like the Escort sedan was for 2000-02.

2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO.
Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

Trust me, the story is that the Mondeo will be here with a Mercury Badge.

Heh heh heh, I read something about the Taurus that I had to laugh at...it's in the August issue of Motor Trend..."I have one piece of advise for Ford with regard to its Taurus: Ditch it! Seriously, with the European Mondeo, Ford could've easily walked away with this contest [Midsize Matters, Motor Trend, May 2002]. The new Mondeo is able to rival the Passat and Accord for packaging and class, while providing a driving experience that will leave many a BMW driver wondering why they paid twice as much for a smaller car. [I beg to differ] Your winner, the Toyota Camry, can barely raise a pulse on European sales charts due to terminal dullness. So come on, Ford, bring the real Mondeo over here, not the previous watered-down, cheapened-up version you called the Contour. Show the Japanese car companies what the Americans can do when they really try!" -Editoroal, Motor Trend magizine, Auhust 2002 :p
