contours are known for a few things:

1: no longer being made.

2: fleet car for rental places.

3: having a ****load of problems.

here is why ford dropped the contour: they werent selling many to begin with, and they have SERIOUS ISSUES. they werent popular cars, people generally chose the taurus over the contour because the taurus is a well-known, dependable vehicle.

ever changed out the wiring harness on a contour? i have. there is a ****ing recall for it. the plastic wire covering comes off, wires touch, the car turns into a ****ing gremlin-fest. they have cooling fan fuse recalls. bad water pumps. they like to spin rod bearings *esp. zetec VCTs*.

ahhh yes, dont forget the blower fan resistor recall. this one is great. why? because the car SETS ITSELF ON FIRE. the contour is easily one of the worst cars ford produced, from the electrical standpoint. they can be a ****ing headache. and, with the harness recall, ford is losing a ****load of money. they give technicians 1.9 hours pay to do a 4 hour job.

"what, don, you dont say?! 1.9 hours???"

yeah, because ford ****ed up.

i love my SVT contour. even the guys at work were impressed with how clean it is and how well it was built. the service record on this car shows one "under warranty" fix for a broken shifter. thats it. i did the recalls on it because, well, i can. smile

dont take this as a flame, just take it as a serious standpoint. i enjoy my babydoll every damn day and wont change anytime soon.
