O.K. here's the story, finialy decided to take the tour out and run it. Have had it fir two years and got the itch to run it. Ended up going to Louisville KY for my first meet, about 2 hours away but not too bad. Got there in good time and things were going very well. Mey a few CEG'ers and a bunch of other people as well.
So I start running in the second heat and had 5 runs. First four went great. I started with a 42.454 and by the fourth run was down to 39.366. As I was pluuing through the line I stopped to wait for the guy in front of me, put on the brake and too it out of gear. When I went to put it back in gear I had nothing. No gears at all.
The clutch felt fine just a loose shifter. Had to push it out of line and didn't get to make my final run. Ended up in the corner of the lot and couldn't get it in gear. Eventually with the help of alot of people, fellow CEG'ers, Mike, the evet coridonator, david, anne and many others(please psot so I can give you all mad props you were all a great help) we found that the linkage was good to the tranny case.
So I called home any soon therre was a trailer and truck on the way(three or four hours later). They finally arrived and the car was loaded by 11:30. On the way home the trailer blows a tire around 1:00. Nowhere to get it fixed and no hotel for about 15 miles.
We ended up taking the tire and leaving the trailer and contour in a gas station lot. went up the road, got a room and finnally got to sleep about four.
Up around eight and got a new tire, the old one was shredded. Went back and was soooooooo happy that the trailer was still there. But it was still busted.
Dropped it off at my uncle-in-laws shop on the way home and finally got in about 11:30.
What a terriable time.
Just for the record I did have a great time running and will probabally do it again.
Does anyone have an idea as to what is wrong?
Also any ideas on things I should do with the tranny out?
Any help will be much appericeated.
Again thanks to everyone for all their help and support.
P.S. My wife never wanted me to go in the first place.
