The first gen CRX's are the shiznit. My buddy has 3, all of them track cars, under $500 each. He consistantly sets fast time of the day.
I have one for sale right now in S. Oregon. It's an 85 Si (the lightest Si ever made 1950lbs wet). Tokico 5-ways and Suspension Techniques springs.
These cars are animals on the race track. They may not have a ton of balls, but they act like a big go-kart.
Another suggestion is late 70 early 80 rabbit GTI's.
