How about a Triumph? Sounds funny, but they handle, and some have a 6 cylinder. A few of the late 70's models and early 80's models have a 3.5L V8 in a tiny little car. I've just been looking at the prices for them, and they range to about $4900 for one in great shape and someone willing to deal.
