Yes we did the Long track at VIR and yes the straight after Oak tree is very long (forget exact length) and starts flat goes uphill a bit then you are braking on a slight downhill. If you loose the brakes completely you will go off into grass then back onto the course at a later point (beginning of corksrew) and then downhill in the grass again. There were HUGE skids marks showing this exact departure from the track when I was there, my instructor said it was from a previous pro-race he showed me where the car wound up it was WAY far away. I had gotten to the point I was just holding in fourth gear to avoid the possibility of overdoing it and not being able to drive the 8 hours home.
I was on stock pads (pretty new) and the original rotors with almost 30K, that was the first time I started to notice a little pulsation from the brakes and part of the reason I was taking it easy on them.
I have new Mintex pads (frt & rear) in the basement which will be going on with new stock rotors all around before the start of this years AutoX and Track Season.
Some people who don't know about the Contour and see me turn in decent times on the track will then start asking about HP and just like you said "oh I didn't know, pretty nice".
Who is doing the event at VIR Long in August do you have a web link?
