Was wondering if a Contour SE with the v6 2.5 liter can run in D Street Prepared. Per the SCCA web site the SVT is listed as ESP but there is no posting for the SE.
Now before you say I am nuts here is why. I would like to run the SVT TB and Upper and lowers,STV front brake rotors and the other wish List mods we all dream of having as SE drivers. Well these mods will sent me in SM class and NO WAY! This class is nuts here in Dallas with super Turbo WRX's I ain't going there.
I was looking at DSP and they have Ford Probes v6 , Mazda MX 6 v6 'Toyota Canery V6 and the catch all for cars not listed quotes" All V6 and Turbo sedans under 3.0L and not otherwise classified:
Here is the link to SCCA's web site on car class:
http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Lists/stprepc.html

I sent e-mail to SCCA asking for advice and the
rule book GODS but they are in Flordia for the National tour this weekend. I'll let you all know
what they say.
Just wanted to see if you all have any ideas.

Thanks and safe racing!

Vern,
I think the kicker here is the catch all in ESP
"All American inline 6, V-6 and V-8 sedans and pickups NOC". So my guess is the answer from the SCCA is going to be ESP.

DSP (All V6 and Turbo sedans under 3.0L) and not otherwise classified Feb-2000

ESP All (American inline 6), V6, and V8 sedans and pick-ups not otherwise classified (NOC) Jan-1999
Other Sedans over 3.0 liters not otherwise classified

I would go DSP.

FWIW, the line I quoted was out of the 2002 rulebook which is why I drew the conclusion I did.
Due to SP update/backdate clause, I feel that is where SCCA will place a 2.5L Contour due to the specific placement of the SVT.

No to argue the point, but to see how I would read it.

ESP would be all american inline 6 cylinders, all V6 sedans, and V8 sedans and pickups NOC.

notice I would not see it as all american inline 6 cylinders, all american V6, all american v8 sedans and pickups NOC.

DSP would come before ESP so,
DSP catch all of All V6 and Turbo sedans under 3.0L would come first.

IndyTour,
I understood what you are saying and why. My reason for the post giving the year of the rule book was due to the dates on the rules you were quoting. They haven't changed the rules, I was just pointing out the most current edition. This one of those grey areas in the rulebook that needs clarification from National headquarters. It is tough enough working tech without these ambiguities.

I've just spent WAAAY too much time this weekend going through the rulebook and making a spreadsheet so I can reference every possible vehicle alphabetically without even having to have a clue as to class before I open it up. In this process I have found a suprising number of typos, oversights, ambiguity, and flat-out conflicting information. I'm going to have a list of questions to ask Howard Duncan and then maybe I can finish this thing up and distribute it. The first and most obvious error is they specifically classify the Viper R/T and GTS in Super Stock, then say in their stock-class exceptions that the Viper is excluded from belonging to any stock class. WTF? There's a whole lot more where that came from. Anyway when I was building my spreadsheet I put the V6 contour in D Street Prepared and that's where I'll put them when I see them on course until someone shows me otherwise or Howard clarifies.
