Thanks guys, I'll quote you when I'm getting protested. Matt, you don't say anything about my munchkin battery...and I won't bring up that short-shifter that gives you a HUGE advantage as you rapidly shift into second...and leave it there for the rest of the run.
Ohhhh yeah

Anyway I looked up the rules in the 1999 Rulebook (the most recent I have) and under the Stock section of Solo II, section 13, is makes no mention of battery relocation or swapping.
However for
Street Prepared, battery changes are mentioned in the electrical system section 14.9. The pertinent parts are B and C.
B. The make, model number, and size of the battery may be changed but not its voltage.
C. Relocation of the batteries is permitted but not into the passenger compartment. If the battery is relocated and the original battery tray can be removed by simply unbolting it, the tray may be removed, or relocated with the battery. Holes may be drilled for mounting or passage of cables. Longer cables may be substituted to permit relocation. The number of battery or batteries may not be changed from stock. The area behind the rearmost seat is not considered to be withing the passenger compartment.
All that being said, I think there is advantage to removing 25 pounds from the front end. However, how many pounds could we lose if we simply emptied the windshield washer bottle? I know it holds at least a gallon so there are 7 pounds right there! If someone is that he!! bent on losing weight there is a lot more to mess with than the measly 25 pounds off that battery.
It would appear that the dry cell isn't allowed under stock rules and of course neither is the short shifter. How the SCCA justifies race tires yet denies a light weight battery or short-throw shifter is beyond my simple mind.
BTW Cole, how is the daughter doing with the clutch?
