For those that could not get the link to work...

GS - 37.217 - Eagle Talon Turbo 2wd
GS - 38.808 - Pontiac Grand Prix
GS - 38.891 - Ford Probe GT
GS - 39.090 - VW GTI
GS - 39.598 - Pontiac Firebird
GS - 42.157 - Ford Contour - Chris Peet

Other times of note:

ES - 47.408 - Honda CRX
ES - 40.272 - Nissan 240SX
ES - 41.017 - Toyota Celica

FM - 34.804 - SoloVee (just for the WOW)

From personal experience, I am going to say that the top time in GS was really quick. Matt runs race tires, and has been at it for a number of years, so those of you with race rubber can benchmark yourselves against that time. I have beaten Matt on a few occasions, but he was much faster when I first started out. Doug also has race tires, and is quick. I did not recognize the guy in the GP, but I am assuming that is race rubber, too. There is no GST here, so I am going to say that the GTI on down is street tires.

I was not there that day, as I attended a SoloII school on the East side of the state. Since I had only had one event under my belt at the time of this race, i thought it more beneficial for me to hit the classroom.

Oh, and okay Dave, I will see you there with my own Kuhmo-shod Contour laugh It'll be fun.

Umm, We have Don listed as the winner fo the Spring Zing cup. If Ken was quicker then he rightfully should have been given the win & the trophy.

It is nice to know that a not-so-perfect 95 SE beat a tricked out SVT laugh There is justice in the world.

How low can you get the car for autocross?

Yes I still have the stock SVT rims Don had autoX with. I plan on running them next year when I have my Quaife installed.

Well, there seems to be some speculation about my midnight red '95 Contour that posted the fastes at Spring Zing. So here are the facts: It's an entirely stock 95 Se with no options (no options = less weight, with only a K&N air filter to try and help performance. I am running 205-60-15 Dunlop SP Sport 5000(symmetric) performance all-season tires which are an excellent tire for the price and they still work well in the winter. Part of the thing that helped make the car fast is the allignment that I have on it. I'm running close to 1 deg. neg. camber up front (cause thats all I could get), with the front wheels towed out 3/32". The rear is towed in 1/16" and I'm using around 42psi in the front tires and around 40 or 46psi in the rear. This and about 7 years of experience helps to make for some fast times. I am a strong believer in the fact that there is no substitute for experience so I would recomend to any one that they should race as often as possible. The more ya race, the faster you become. On a down side, my car had a broken rear spring and a bad motor mount at the event and also developed a valvetrain knock after the runs at the event and an oil light that started coming on in hard right hand corners. I have since retired the car from racing. frown

Icey Mike, you still got the same tires that he ran? What kind?

Courtlak, I agree with the notion that their is no substitute for seat time. Still an amazing performance on 60 series average rubber on a worn out car. The SE does have essentially the same torque as the SVT and is much lighter so I can see why an SE would do so well. How does the GTI compare to the Contour timewise. Are there cars you beat in the Contour that you lose to in the GTI or vice versa? Next year the GTI goes to G Stock I believe.
