Well fellow Autoxers,

It looks like the Contour is gonna be the car to beat next year in G stock. The Type R and WRX will be moved out. The Probe, VR6, and 2.5RS will still be in. I can finally move out of STS to G Stock. Good news, Good news! As Roscoe used to say.

I am going to have to disagree with you there. Although the Integra, 'scoobies' and the AWD 'Taloins' *may be bumped to another class (the vote is not in yet, afaik), there is a really tough contigent of cars that will join us in GStock. The one that scares me the most is the Neons. May sound strange, but around here, there are some world class drivers in the Neons, and will be very tough to beat. Also, the Celicas are really sharp around here. It might be a bit better, but I don't consider the Contour to be the clear 'car to beat'.

Sincerely,

The Mark

Agreed, the contour is not the car to beat. But at least we'll finally be competitive.

I also agree the contour will have stiff competition but should be a serious contender. A well drivenBMW 330I and 2.5RS should easily be able to hang with us. I'm still hoping to knock off or run with the Type Rs and WRXs this year once I switch to AutoX tires. Anybody know someone who wants to get rid of their E-0 or E-1 rims cheap?

The 330i and all 6 cylinder BMWs should be moving to D Stock. Agree that well driven Neon ACRs and 00 Celica GT will be tough.

Heh guys. Have not been around for a while because my hard drive crashed leaving me some sort of password at the BIOS point. Hitting F1 and F5 did not work on my IBM, just 2 years old. Ended up having to pull the battery.

It rained at our 12 AUG autocross and got some good rain runs, unfortunately on the BFG VR4s up front which do not do well in the rain. But at least with the well worn G-Force in back I did not need to worry about spinning out.

Ended up winning G Stock, but lost to a NEW GUY who showed up in a 93 Mustang Cobra. (at least it was an SVT) On his first two runs he was .2 seconds and .1 seconds slower than me. Then he beat me by .7 seconds and it started raining again so I had no chance to equal it. He turned out to be an ex-alcohol cart racer from Florida.

May go to Kuhmo street tires next, but the 4 BFGs with a free G-tech is also tempting. Ended up following someone's advice and rotating my own tires jacking up half the car at a time using a 4' length of 2 X 6 and a hydraulic jack. Worked well without having to take off the jack point covers which is a pain.

SVTCole, how did you place the 2x6 to jack up your car? I had your problem last weekend when I was rotating my tires. Took me 30 minutes to switch 2 tires...that's just nuts. TIA

Patrick, I place it parallel to the jacking point ridge about 2/3 of the way forward due to forward weight distribution. It won't go directly over the ridge so I just looked for a flat spot and it seemed to work without damage. Then you can rotate both tires at once without using your spare.

Dave, is BAT a brand name or a retailer. Where did you get your cheaper rims and how much were they? Were you the one who had the 2 X 6 idea? How do you place the board?

There is a friend of mine in Nebraska who has a set of E0 rims sitting in his garage. I think he wants $250 or $275 for the set, plus shipping of course. Drop me an email (in my sig) if you are interested and I'll try to set something up.

Rick
