I just bought a Weapon R intake system for my '99 SVT.
My plans were to install it before racing the stock class. wink

My question: Is the weapon R intake permitted, or not? confused

Also: How much is a good price for a used one?... I paid $70 for stage 1 + 2.

It won't be permitted for G-Stock. The only thing that is permitted is a replacement filter element.

I suppose that I might as well chime in here and mention that a lot of Contour runs GStock with KKMs and such. The fact that, for the most part, people don't give us a second look, means that we don't usually get protested.

Not that I promote this, by any means, but many tohers do. It is your choice. My KKM is in the garage along with the B&M. *sigh*

So I shouldn't, but I can? My friend's Impreza has one, and he runs that class.

Does the Weapon R make a noticeable performance difference?

I don't know where you race, but I'd RATHER be in STS than G-stock where I race. G-stock is a harder category in the venues I attend.

Same here but I'm learning how to drive the contour so I'm not worried about classification. And I like the G-Stock guys more.

Funny everybody wants to be in STS. With Philly region SCCA STS is full of hoped up Subaru's. In GS it's just a matter of seeing how many Type R's and WRX's show up and I know what spot I'm going to come in. I occasionally sneak past one of the slower WRX's. I'm not sure modifiying my car into STS will improve me enough to be competitive (in STS). One of these days when I buck up for some competition rubber and improve my driving I really think I could be right on the heals of the Type R's but maybe I'm being optimistic. :-)

Sounds like the Type Rs and the Scoobies are trumping us nationwide eek !!
For now, it doesn't matter too much what class I race. It's a learning experience for me.
... for now wink

No offense, I could dominate the STS class here in NJ, and yes we get a bunch of Philly people up here too. But being on the heals of the type-r's??? I doubt it, you might though ya never know. BTW, I am on R compound tires and they are still 2-3 seconds faster. Slowests ones I'm about to start passing but the faster ones?? No way in hell.

I was looking over the results of previous Philly region AutoX's. STS would definitely not be a good move for me unless I do a lot of mods and it really cuts my time down. I would consistently be out of the points if I was in STS. Also looking over the results, which are tough to compare perfectly since weather has played a part in the more recent ones I'm now about 3 or so seconds behind the leaders driving on my KDW's. I've been trying to make it to a NNJ event but haven't done it yet. When I do I'm going to borrow your tires. Haha
