Are any of you guys using a 4 point harness? If so, what brand, where did you buy it and how is it mounted?

Krause,

I just use a wide lap-belt I picked up at a performance parts place. It costs about $20 and works great. The big plus is that you don't have to install/uninstall after each event...the belt just tucks away beside the seat. I highly recommend it if you are just looking for something to hold you to the seat during an AutoX event.

I fabricated a Lateral Support Seat Belt, which is a piece of band iron with a male and female seatbelt attachments welded on to each side of the iron bar.

How it works is when i am in grid at an autoX I Take it from the rear of my seat and wrap it around me from behind the seat and it holds me directly in place against my seat. It is awesome, it holds me upright very well, I never find myself struggling to hold myself up. It is Completely Wrapped so it doesn't damage the seat.

I will be selling this Seatbelt soon Because I am getting a 4-point Harness for my b-day because it is a little more intimidating than the fabricated lateral belt... anyone interested...?

I use a 3-pt. Scroth with Momo pads. I don't recall the name of the place that I bought it, but it was via the Internet for about $105. I used it in 2000 and added some Momo pads from SPMotorsports for this year to make it more comfortable (old guys need comfort).

I mounted it by putting the two thick eye-bolts that come with it into the rear of the driver's seat frame rail (had to take off the plastic coverings to do so). Drilling the holes out for installing the bolts was tough...those frame rails are HARD! I then clip the connectors over the two eye-bolts for races and clip the third one (top) into the rear seat-back retaining thingy and slam the rear seat into place. It works great.

If there's interest, I'll snap a couple of digital pix and post them to show what I mean.

I have a 3-pt Scroth Rallye3 with some custom anti-sub straps (makes me a 5-pointer).

For the rear points, I simply used the rear frame rail bolts. Just remove the rear bolts, slide the harness brackets underneath
the rail (lining up with the hole of course), and put the bolts back in. I also put a washer in the other rear bolts to keep the surface level. I didn't want to tighten them down and bend the rail. Takes about 3-5 minutes to install/remove. 10mm ratchet and phillips screwdriver is all you need.

Rear point is the center lap belt point. Pull the rear sear (bottom cushion) out of the way, use a #55 'star' wrench and unbolt
the bolt. Slip in the rear bracket and put back together.

The sub straps are triple-wrapped around the 1/2" bar underneath the seat. (part of the seat frame). Helps keep the lap belt from riding up when you tighten up the shoulder harness.

Clear as mud?

It's worked GREAT at the spring zing AX, especially with the OEM belt also used. No need to brace for corners. It was my first time using them. First time at a Solo II ax actually.
