I experienced the wrath of the Type R last year and made a quick exit to STS. My results were very similar to yours. Ran one event in GS against a well driven Type R that was on R-compound rubber (I was on the KDWs). Lost by about 4 seconds. The Type R is just an all around superior car to the SVT IMO.
