I suggest the emblem be left chrome...it would provide a nice contrast to the black ellipse. Also, painting the emblem isn't actually that hard. I took the stock SVT emblem on the rear trunk lid, sanded it down nicely, sprayed some adhesive promoter, and then finished off with some black trim paint and it is holding up fine.
