Out of curiosity, what is the gauge and the resistance on these wires? For instance, for my '73 Bronco I use MSD Plug Wires. They are 8.5mm and have 40-50 ohms per foot of resistance. As I understand it, this allows me to take advantage of a more powerful alternator as well as a more powerful distributor and stronger coil. This all equates to more efficient power and in turn better gas mileage. For comparison, I think I paid $89.95 for a universal set that I had to cut and crimp myself.

Also, does anyone know what the stock gauge and resistance are for a non-SVT 2.5L Duratec? It's a Cougar, but I would imagine Cougar and non-SVT Countour are the same.
Ford Racing website (www.fordracing.com) will give you the part #. They list these wires as 9mm, but don't say exact resistance, they just say low resistance wires. frown
