IIRC it is about an 8 hour job on the book.

If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

Have to say that it looks like most members are not aware of what it takes to have a Quaife install, when they find out it seems to scare the death out of them..!!!Maybe this explains last years raft of Quaife's for sale in the 'classifieds'.All I can add is two things 1) If HMS Inc fits the Quaife to your trans or car it will be even cheaper than this buy 2)A Quaife under your bed or in the box in the garage wont stop your diff leaving the trans case through the side when you 'pop' at 3000+...trust me I've seen it...you are pushing your luck every time...Regards TH

To anyone who can answer my question about the LSD:
Please excuse my automotive ignorance! I am totally unlearned about transmissions and even more oblivious to what a LSD will asscomplish besides an assurance that you won't drop the stock on the highway. It runs about $550 and 8 hours to install. Most mechanics charge $75-85/hour, and that comes out to about $600-650 for labor and a total of about $1200 eek . What are the less expensive options? Why Quaife? Sell it to me... smile

Chuck, I'm no expert so bear with me. The quaife differential basically replaces the stock piece in the trans that has a history of grenading under loads like drag strip starts, extreme cornering, etc. It also transfers power from one wheel to the other to overcome only one tire spinning and allow more power to go to the ground.

For different options to upgrade the trans in this manner there aren't any real options. The least costly one is to install the "phantom grips" piece which basically imitates the action of the quaife by increasing pressuring on the side gears in your stock differential. However you must still remove the trans to install it and it does not aid in strengthening the actual differential to keep it from blowing into multiple pieces. That and it is only about $200 less than this price on the quaife.

If you're serious about the performance go with the quaife and have Terry do the install (if you can)!

HTH,
Rick
