I'm refering to the non-full time outfits,Chris H etc are now 'on the dark side'...plus I dont see examples of customers getting parts any cheaper than say BAT who import...would you like to know the margins on some of the imported parts you buy...you would be shocked I can assure you.....I re state that if your aim in life is to just get the cheapest price at the expense of the aftermarket 'genuine' firms (not just me!),then the future of Contour parts and offerings will decrease...basic economics states that you need people to make money to invest it in future products..its a free market...but not that free... wink

My $.02, I'll spend the extra $30 up front and buy from Terry for a few reasons

1)Terry is held in much higher regard and can get the parts reliably...not saying that cano is unreliable but at the same time there is no proof that he is. So for the sake of knowing I won't just be throwing $100 into the wind, I'll spend a little extra now since I know that Terry can back up his part and will deliver as he states. Also by going with Terry I KNOW I'm getting the right part and I will get it promptly, those can't be said yet for cano until he shows otherwise.

If cano had some kind of background on the CEG or had a reputable business my thought process might change, but personally I find it quite risky to send a $100 to Europe on the hopes of someone I don't even know.

2) Terry develops aftermarket parts for our cars, I'm more than happy to support someone who is actually making progress in our aftermarket. He hauls ass all-day everyday on Contours and I understand he needs to make a profit to survive. Terry has a REAL business, he's not just working all day for the hell of it...it's his job.

3) I've seen the support he has been given first-hand...I signed up for his transmission seminar along with around 10 other people...only ONE other person besides myself held his promise, and he wasn't even a CEG'er! (visits here but is mainly a NECO guy). I can understand why this type of **** pisses Terry off, everyone wants everything but no one is ready to pony up when the time comes.

Now I appreciate that cano is trying to help out a few CEG'ers and there is nothing wrong with that, I'd just rather know that the product I am paying for will be delivered promptly, will be the right part, and finally will contribute indirectly to the manufacturing of more performance parts.

IMHO, if $30 is all that seperates you from not eating this week or paying your rent, you shouldn't be wasting your money on car parts anyways! :p

Just a note, not all part timers are @ss clowns. I work my ass off making parts in my spare time for Contour owners. Guess what? I do put up my own money to get things made for the benefit of the group. I make money on my labor, not reselling other people's parts like most of the E-commerce croud does. I certainly hope I'm not included in this downgraded discussion... frown

Just a note, out of country duties are a major factor in running a business, part time or otherwise. The fines can far outweigh anything you can ever make by selling a few DMD's over seas and I suggest anyone who tries to, for personal gain or otherwise, find out all applicable costs before hand. They're not gifts, they're a small gray area loop hole you're trying to jump through that just isn't worth it. Let someone at the USPS station tell you what correct shipment and duties will cost and let their name be on the line for the correct amount of shipment duties... it's the only way to be safe. Now, meet me on the corner of 56th and University, I've got some cheap cable dishes to sell ya...

I would have to say the same with me. I am a part timer that has invested my money along with others to make different products, I hope I am not included in this downgraded discussion either. . .

Brad and Micah,
I don't think anyone considers either one of you two as part-timers, even though you yourselves probably do wink

By creating unique parts that are not available elsewhere you are offering priceless aftermarket to the CEG community. I think that the "part-timer" status is directed more towards the idea of reselling products on a random basis as deals fall into place. So keep doing what you're doing...as a matter of fact will you hurry up and make some more cool sh*t! :p

It is all good if you do not trut me like you trust anyone you buy from on ebay. If is that I could easily ofered first at ebay instead CEG first. All I know my DM damper will be in the car by tomorow by the dealer. Since it still a original ford part made for the duratec it did not avoid warranty. note the dealer technician did research first to se if will work because he did not believe at first and the conclusion was that is a replacement for the damper we have in our engines. if you rather spend the extra $30 it is fine with me I'm not here for the money like others I'm here to help. But since my help was not welcome it is fine. More time for my self.

Sigh...

One more run and I'll shut up. It seems I am not beeing that clear anyhow.

In no way did I insinuate you should not make a decent profit, especially if its your work. I am just saying Terry does not strike me as a man who must be pitied for investing his hard earned, with no return or support from the CEG community.
THAT is a load of bull...For the people still not clear on what i mean, see Puppy's post a little up from this one...

BTW, in my book, you get kudos for developping any part for our cars. So if you feel this applies to you, give yourself a pat on the back.
