theoretically you are correct, however the difference is minimal. like i said i've seen both as i have the white and my roommate has the yellow. the yellow are very bright as well but they do not shine as far. the whites light up the road probably 3x better than the yellow. i think the yellow would look great if you have bluish headlights or HID's, it'd give it that IS300 look. however, i went with PIAA superwhites in my headlights as well, to match the fogs. its your decision, either one is a great light. i got the whites because i was not overly impressed with the yellow, they didn't light up the road nearly as much. i do like the color though, for aesthetics (sp??).
