I checked the www.piaa.com website and the model Slim must be talking about is the 510 series available in Ion Crystal Fog complete kit #5161 and Super White Pencil complete kit #5164

I would want the fog version for why would anyone want the super pencil version if you are not always traveling at a high rate of speed on straights in perfect night weather unless you are a street racer.

Would it not be better to simply by the 880/893 50 watt bulb available thru BAT?

superwhites are fine in the fog, and have nothing to do with driving in a straight line. they're not that pencil pointed lol. there is no 893/885 out there that even comes close to the brightness of the piaa 510s. ive had mine installed for probably about 6 months. i got mine in the last group buy, don't remember what i paid though. personally i don't like the ion crystal ones that much. my roommate has them, and while it does look good oncoming, it doesn't really help his vision much at night, well not even close to that of mine. the reason i got the superwhites is because i wanted more light up front so i could see better. with the piaa's on, i can't even tell when my headlights are on/off, that's how bright they are.

Product Highlights Details
PIAA's 510 Series lamps feature a compact size 4" stamped steel housing with a black finish that exceeds SAE durability and corrosion standards.
These lights perform much like their bigger 6" siblings in a smaller and more compact housing. Perfect for tight locations or when size and style allow mounting of a smaller lamp.

While only drawing 55 watts each, these lamps are also an excellent choice for vehicles with alternators not capable of handling higher wattage lamps. PIAA's XTRA technology allows a better, brighter light source which can be had on a vehicle with limited alternator capacities.

These work great on bikes like the older air cooled BMW motorcycles just for that reason.

Will mount to the cylinder protector bars with a simple clam shell bracket available from your BMW dealer.
5161 Ion Fog Lamps
High performance XTRA Quartz Halogen Bulb provides an amazing 85 watts of apparent light from just 55 watts of power allowing a cooler operation and increased bulb life.

Fog/Foul Weather lamps penetrate rain, fog, dust, and snow without bouncing back into the drivers eyes or offending oncoming traffic.

5164 Super White Driving Beam Lamps

Dichroic reflection allows integral bulb to run cooler than lamps with similar wattage.

High output 55 watt XTRA Super White Halogen Bulb performs like an 85 watt bulb, yet produces less heat for longer life.

With the addition of Super White technology, the lamps approach the brightness and intensity of H.I.D (High Intensity Discharge) Headlights which are now found on many European Luxury cars at a fraction of the cost.

Kits come complete with 2 lights, wire harness, relay and switch.

Yea,

We didn't pay anywhere near that for ours.
If Slim can get the same price again, you won't be sorry.
Just be patient.
These things don't happen in a hurry.
It took us almost three weeks to get ours.

Any problems on installing them on a 95? I have the stock fogs, but they are worthless.

I'm definately interested, especially since my headlights are so yellow!
