If you could get the non HID's to the 300 to 400 range I woudl seriously consider them. HID's under 600 would possibly be worth the cash too but I don't know if I want to be getting pulled over all the time.
Anyway even if the projector headlights that Chris is/was working on would be worth the effort as the current headlights really suck.
