Three inch would be great (that's what I am doing) but you can go out to two mufflers. Maybe 3" to the "Y" in the rear, then split to two 2.5" pipes to the two mufflers. Check out the thread in "Performance" for the Edelbrock Performer RPM series mufflers with free-flow design. Good muffling and little resistance.
