The time has come to announce the details of the turbocharger kit for the Duratec V6. I know I have run into a few speedbumps a while ago but everything is ready to go. I have a list of about 80 people that have shown serious interest. It is now time to take deposits and give the information.

Please read the entire post.

Vehicles: Contour, Cougar, Mystique, Mondeo
Variants: MTX, ATX, Return fuel system, Returnless fuel system
Inital cost estimate: $4500 (without install)

Here is what you get:

-Custom built T28 turbo from Forced Performance (ball bearing, water cooled, internal wastegate)
-Spearco water/air intercooler (with complete water circuit)
-Headers, SS, T304 mandrel bent tubular Jet Hot Coated
-High flow air filter (KKM will not work)***
-Apexi S-AFC fuel computer***
-PCM chip (Probably DiabloSport)
-Blow-off valve
-All necessary water, oil, and intercooler lines
-All necessary intake piping and exhaust downpipe to cat

-These parts will come with a 12 month manufacturers warranty against defects.

*** If you already have these items, you won't have to pay for them with the kit (this means the kit cost would be less)

Options needed to complete kit(some people already have these components so the price might be less)

-High flow catback exhaust (stock resonator will not be allowed)
-Battery relocation.

While we are prototyping, if there are any additional parts necessary to the primary function, we will let you know.

What is required of you?

-Deposit. Minimum $500. Maximum $3000

If you can provide more than the minimum deposit I HIGHLY recommend you do. This will speed the development process. For those that can give the maximum deposit, special treatment will be given to show our thanks.

Initial HP estimates will be close to 300HP. This is a safe number and will probably change as we fine tune.

The business that is making the kit has plenty of experience with turbocharging vehicles such as Hondas, Toyotas, and Nissans. They also have an in-house dyno for quicker results of modifications.

We have plans to "beta" test a few vehicles before the general release of the kit. For those interested, contact me regarding this.

The kit IS upgradable for those that wish to put a larger turbo/more boost on strengthened internals.

For those people that are ready for this, contact me through email at "chris@spazmail.com"

Thanks to everyone for being patient with me while I got this going.

-Chris

While a turbo (Contour) is not in my future, Chris I applaud your efforts.

COBM,
The intake housing on our T28 looks much different than that. The intake side is much larger, and the compressor output isn't bent like that. But, that is a T28.

holy hell on earth batman!!! Chris, you will have a $1000 deposit within the next month from me after I pay for my new paint job.

I'm planning on going with true duals so is there anything to take into consideration as far as the installation of the turbo and the exhaust? I know Stazi mentioned something to me but I forgot what was said. Also, who should I plan on going to for installation? I'm in Michigan so perhaps Terry Haines may be the one to go to? Also, what are your thoughts on the reliability of the Turbo as compared to the s/c?

well I must say that I'm hyped as hell that you made this happen, I know I've only gone through 1/1000th of the work you put in for making this happen as I have towards the body kit so much respect goes out to you. i look forward to sending my business your way laugh .

Turbo only has one exhaust port. A nice single exhaust will be good. Do the exhaust after/during the turbo.

I have dogged on you Chris for not getting this out because I wanted to see the kit before I decided to go Durtech or Zetec. I must give you props for seeing this through though. To be honest I think that I am goin to have to go zetec though. Terry where you at?!? Anyways hopefully after some tuning your system will be able to put out some kick ass numbers. Much props my friend! Good luck to everyone snatchin this one up!
