There are some things that need to be cleared up. First of all we need to give props to Matt for so graciously hosting this site. Unfortunately Matt is losing his job, which is the real bummer in all of this. Not because it means that CEG loses its home, but because Matt has himself and a family to support.

Lance never said that CEG was going down at this exact moment, but as we speak, Matt's company is in the process of disbanding his T1. The T1 is through his company and that being said, there is no way to raise donations to fund it for any longer.

Lance and I want to say how much we love this site. It has become a family to us too, but we also have a life outside of CEG which takes priority. We are in the process of buying a house and cannot afford the time or money it would take to make this a business endeavor. Lance never set out to create a site that was...it was merely a hobby. We have been a bit saddened by the tone the forums have taken on lately...especially in light of what we all learned from September 11th. We don't want to have to shut the site down. But for now that is what we have to do.

There is a possibility for further hosting which would cost, but we are looking into it...assuming we could raise funding for an entire year up front. Regardless, the CEG will still have to go down for a month or so to make it all happen. We'd need to get the server back, Lance wants to make some upgrades and then we'd have to send it off to its new home. We can't guarantee that this will happen, but we will try our best.

For now, the down time will probably give all of us time to think and gain appreciation for this site so that if/when it comes back up we can all get along and have a new found respect for one another.

=) Christy

Good luck with your house.

I am sorry to hear about Matt aswell. I know it's hard to support a family on one income.

I wonder how many of us will be left after a month though. From previous experience following them, I'd have to give the newsgroup ( news://alt.autos.ford.cdw-27) a big thumbs up. When the time comes for donations to restart the CEG, you and Lance both have my email. If you've lost it since, it's the-ghosst at rogers dot com. I'll be on the NG until the new CEG reforms.

well thank you for clearing those things up and I'm sorry to hear that Matt is losing his job. All of us can understand that family/life takes priority over a side project. perhaps Lance would be interested in transferring the information to a new webmaster who could make arrangements to host the space? maybe that would be the resolution to all of this...

I would like to say thanks to Mr/Mrs Lance K., Matt, and everyone else for doing such a great job of providing an excellent source of information for our cars...it truly has made owning my SVT a better experience, and I am sure that holds true for many of us here.

Best of luck to Matt in his search for a new job.

Lance/Christy- Thanks for the place to hang out. I hope you get the house you both want.

Matt- Thanks for hosting the machine, doing minor reset maintenece, paying the power bill for us, and I'm sorry to hear about your Job. I hope you find one very quickly making more then you do now.

Please contact me on any fund raising needed as I'll be as generous as possible in my current budget. I need this site to finish my project successfully. Best of luck everyone and I'll see you on the otherside.

I have always known at some level that this day would come. That this forum has grown to be what it is is a credit to its creator.

Thanks for hanging on for so long. I hope that it all comes back in some form or another, but just in case it doesn't...well, thanks.

And as for any negativity you may be seeing, I don't know. I guess that stuff just slips right off of me, because I don't think it's the prevailing attitude around here, but when you have 8000+ people in the same room, some of them are going to break a wine glass or two.

If anything, your character and dedication has shaped the vast majority of us, and our approach to this site, and the topic for which it was built. And I like what I see.

Again, thanks for all, hope to see you again, but as a father of three with a real job and a real life, I fully understand the choices you have to make.

God speed.
