A group buy gets a 40% discount, which is an awesome price for this scanning tool.
Here is a note I wrote about it recently, which explains everything I have learned about it. The guy already has about 16-18 people, and 20 people are needed to get the 40% discount.

In regard to this software, here is what I know, OTHER than what is on the web site.
This is the web site: http://www.obd-2.com/
The cost depends on w what you get. One interface (one car group) at the discount price is about $79 I think. All 3 interfaces (all cars) is about $98.
What he is selling is the little hardware wire interface, the software is free off of his web site. I've seen the software work on my car, it is very cool.
It tells you codes, clears codes, but also does a TON of ther stuff, like tell you sensor voltages, speeds, tac, graphs, tons and tons of stuff. I'm going to use it mostly for the codes.
As far as needing a laptop, you need a computer and long enough serial cable or ether cable, depending on what interface you buy. A laptop would obviously be easier, but I intend to get the triple combo with the ether cable, then just run that out a window from my inside home office PC and out to the car. It will be a little hassle, but it will work and is MUCH cheaper than a new laptop.
So for like $100 you get to read the codes out of the car, which usually costs like $60 or more for each read at a garage.
For anyone that wants to join the group by (like a 40% discount) go to this web site
http://www.tauruscarclub.com/obd2.html
and sign up yourself. Look at the web site http://www.obd-2.com/ for all the details.I found out this group buy is still going on. I missed out on the last one and my check engine light has been on ever since! They need a few more people to get the next one going. You can see at $70 per diagnostic, you can see how quickly it will pay for itself!
