****NOTE****

The same kit works for both Koni and Stock struts. I have some pics of the install on my Cougar and girlfriend's Contour. I prototyped this kit for Ground Control a year ago and sold 39 kits for them.

Cougar Install

Contour Install

Also this kit gives you the necessary clearance to squeeze 19" rims under both cars. I have 19x8 40 mm offset Axis Se7en's with 235/35/19 Nitto 555 tires

I've been thinking about running 19"s but I'm guessing that it's going to be too harsh of a ride with the gc/koni setup. add that to Michigan roads and it doesnt sound very pleasant

harshness from the 18 to 19 swap was not much different but the car handles like it's on rails. i have 18's and ground controls on the contour and it is not bad just a little bouncey

I hope you guys know that the GC kit is used for weight balancing. It has a linear spring rate and the ride is going to be very harsh. It is not your typical lowering kit, it was designed for autoXing, and roadcoarse. It being adjustable is a plus but i don't want to knock on you guys or anything, but if you're not going to use it to balance the weight of the car which is its whole intention for racing, go for the Eibach.
Then again its just my 2 cents.

I've heard that the GC's weren't that harsh as long as they weren't cranked down real low? Also I have heard that GC's are better around winter time b/c you can crank them up to get good ground clearance, etc.? Now I am not so sure if the ride is horrible confused

Well I am going to go to our big SE-Michigan meet, hopefully someone will have GC's and I can see what I think and then let you guys know if I am still in.

GC owners say:
"The GC coilovers make the handling ten times better. I have 18's on my tour and I get no rubbing at all. There is absolutely no body roll either."

"Sorry, just found out GC will not be doing any more group buys because of conflicts with there retailers. I would still recommend the Koni GC setup over anything else."

"I love my GC coil-overs and would recommend them to everyone."

"I just installed Konis and Ground Control coilovers on Friday and couldn't be happier. I went from the stock (non-SVT) suspension to these and the ride is still comfortable, a little bouncy but also a lot more fun to drive. the only problem now is I don't want to stop driving it and the gas is a little to pricey."

"I have the CG coilovers on my SVT. Being Canadian I had the same needs as you with regards to bringing the car back up for winter.

We put them on my SVT shocks as a test, I was nervous about hacking up a brand new set of Konis. The ride is great. I've never been in an SVT with Eibach or other springs, but I've had real good comments on mine. It's quite a bit firmer than stock, body roll is 90% gone, so is squat at launch & dive under braking. I find hard braking a LOT easier to modulate without all that excess suspension travel. Launching the car is a snap, I think that eliminating the rear squat has somewhat helped with wheel hop in 1st gear."

"My car is riding on the Ground Control coilovers. Check out my sig for a link to the pics. Really satisfied with them. Bought them in a NECO Group Purchase at a real good discount, well worth it IMO especially if you need to drive the car in snow in winter."

"If you want it a tad lower, higher or just want to slam it you can get the Ground Control coilovers (made by Eibach) that work with the Eibach springs and Koni struts. Thats the route I would go because you can keep working with it untill you can get it the way you want it. "

(sorry, i don't know how to "quote" from other threads.)

negatives i've read:
-having the gc set too low 3" can affect camber and tire wear
-ride is a bit bouncey, but adjustable konis are a marked/big help over stock

when is your meet?

I agree the Ground-Controls are good. I too would recommend them to everyone.
I rode on them at the lowest height possible for about a year and there were no signs of bad camber wear. I would get my alignment checked and adjusted if needed, every 6 months or so. The camber and caster were always in specs, just the toe would need a little adjustment.
