How long for the batch of Aluminum ones to get made? I would prefer to get this in by July 1. As soon as everybody gives me there info. As of now, we have 6 people who have emailed me saying they are in. We need 14 more to make this work. As soon as the 20 people e-mail, I will fax the order to him. Then when he gives me prices for each person, I will tell you. Then you can send me your payment, then I will make one big payment. When I recieve the payment, I will send back a reciept showing the amount payed, when and the date. My main thing is I don`t want people getting screwed on this. If there are any ?`s about this or anything, feel free to ask. 6 as of now 14 more to complete

Toadster, I notice you live in California...
Your taurus exhaust would not have made it past 1995 in Canada. And even then, you would have been lucky.
I do not know what Ford headers are made of, but I could bet it's not 16 gauge aluminized steel. Mostly because Ford has to warranty them for 60000 miles...
Now, I will not pretend I did a reliability study on contour y-pipes. But I am a metallurgist, and if asked to ballpark the average life of an aluminized downpipe, I would probably say 4 years. With the 409SS being over ten. So it basically comes down to how long you want to keep the car.

ah - good snooping, but alas, the Taurus was born and raised in Pennsylvania (for 7 years) so It's seen the salt & snow, it moved to retire in sunny CA hehe - not bustin on ya but anyways, these aren't headers... an my Dad is a metallurgist (for 38 years) as well http://www.kreher.com - just a tidbit... anyways, the SS would definitely have a racier sound, the hardness of those pipes really rings out the tones....

Man, all these metallurgists are makin' me feel welcome!!! Does anybody know what grade of SS the Sho-Shop y-pipe is? It's probably just 409. The steel mill that I used to work at aluminized 409 for a large OEM muffler manufacturer. 409 is a pretty low grade of stainless and will rust eventually...a 304 ss exhaust, now that would be cool (but probably pretty expensive). Now which is better...Aluminized plain carbon or bare 409 stainless? I'm going with the ss As an aside, when my buddy pulled the stock exhaust off his Cougar to put on a SVT exhaust, the pipes said "409SS" on them. Maybe that's why Ford OEM parts last so long... or have they changed muffer materials recently for some reason?
