Does anybody know what grade of SS the Sho-Shop y-pipe is? It's probably just 409. The steel mill that I used to work at aluminized 409 for a large OEM muffler manufacturer. 409 is a pretty low grade of stainless and will rust eventually...a 304 ss exhaust, now that would be cool (but probably pretty expensive). Now which is better...Aluminized plain carbon or bare 409 stainless? I'm going with the ss
As an aside, when my buddy pulled the stock exhaust off his Cougar to put on a SVT exhaust, the pipes said "409SS" on them. Maybe that's why Ford OEM parts last so long... or have they changed muffer materials recently for some reason?
