Aluminized will not last as long, winter or not. High temperature oxydation is much more severe on the aluminized. Once the aluminum layer is gone, oxydation gets mmuch worse. FYI, a shop in Canada has a 2 year warranty on aluminized headers, and a 5 year warranty on stainless ones.
so why do Ford OEM parts last for years? my '87 Taurus I just got rid of had a perfect exhaust system (alum-steel)... dunno, you do have merit stating the high-temp stuff, but these are downwind of the headers - I'm sure the pre-cats get the brunt of the heat
