Really??? Aluminized steel is a pretty common material for exhausts and you shouldn't have a problem with the coating melting off... I had a coop at a steel mill that aluminized both plain-carbon and 409 stainless. One of their biggest customers of aluminized steel was Arvin-big OEM exhaust manufacturer (same guys that did the titanium mufflers for the Corvette ZO6).
Just my 2 cents...maybe I'm smoking crack...
