Some interesting info on the Y-pipe that I got from Chris...
"The Y-pipe we are considering is going to be made from T409
stainless steel, with a stainless steel cat and stainless
steel flex pipe. It is being designed as a complete bolt up
to replace the factory Y-pipe and catalytic convertor, and
yet bolt up to the pre cats and stock exhaust system.
The front pipes will be mandrel bent 2" stainless steel
with the rear pipe having a fitting to accomodate the rear
O2 sensor.
The catalytic will be a CATCO hi flo or another brand of
equal or greater quality. THe cat is designed for engines
up to 5.9l so there is lots of flow for an engine of 2.5l.
Fitment will not be an issue as we will test fit real
vehicles (not to say that they did not) and ensure that it
works the first time.
I don't mind helping out. I have a Contour of my own
(Project SE) and I have no problem using it as a test be
for new Contour products. It will probably be the first car
with the Y-pipes we plan to have made, so if the shop
doesn't make it fit on mine properly, we'll be looking
elsewhere to have them made up. We also have a customer
with a 99SVT whom will be having one fitted as well, so
that we can confirm if the model years differ. From my own
personal experience, all the bolt up points have remained
the same on all the MTX vehicles I have seen, and I've seen
them all including a late 99 SVT which was basically a 2000
model
I forgot to tell you (I think) that the outlet pipe size
from the cat, and flex pipe are 2 1/2" dia."
Hope this helps...
