I'd have to see your test methods before I would be convinced, no offense. (Engineer and all ...) I have trouble believing that exhaust gases will give the same readings after being scrubbed by 2 different cats. Otherwise the front and rear on car O2's would have the same reading at all times, which they don't. Also, I'd like to measure the exhaust as close to the engine as possible rather than out the back in order to be able to more accurately match RPM with A/F reading.
Not trying to bust your stones, but I'm not sold on the tailpipe sniffer for A/F tuning. Others have used it and tell me it's OK, but I prefer the (unfortunately more difficult) way. Engineers like to be difficult - a common personality trait for us.
