Yeah, cool cult car - but $26k-$28k loaded? Pah-lease.

It would be on my top 5 list for a next car, but it's just too darn expensive for what you get.

(hey, post 300! Yippee)

Wow a test drive? Wish they could keep one at the dealership her for more than a second smile The must be selling well. Everytime I go by there they don't have any.

I am looking forward to test driving it soon.

ut the Focus has similar power to the wheels and VERY close 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times. The question is what is so different about the power? [[Confused]]
Well, no. The SVTF dynos Ive seen are all 145-150 FWHP. Typical stock SVTC is 165 FWHP with a range of 155 to 175 (most 160-170). Torque margin even widder. And in the 1/4 I have yet to see better than 15.7 sec for FSVT, most sources show 16.0 or slower. SVTC consistant 15.4.

Bottom line..SVTC feels quicker & faster cause it is. But the SVTFocus handles a bit better because its 250 lbs lighter & has 17" low profile rubber. Its a nice package for the money (looks asside).

SVT Focus doesn't have the two hump power curve of the SVTC. It pulls nicely for a 2.0L 4 banger, no doubt about it. I didn't get the feeling that a lot of electronic trickery was being employed (VVT) to achieve the linear power delivery.

It also doesn't make a furious rush to redline like the 2.5L Duratec.

The overwhelming impression I was left with after driving the SVT Focus was: heavy flywheel!

It is unbelievable how different it is to sit in neutral and blip the throttle on the SVTF. Blip throttle results in delayed and slow revving. Blip the throttle on the SVT Duratec and you get immediate revs. You have to experience it to fully understand what I am talking about. SVTF in this regard is VERY un-performance car like.

However, it's a cool little car. I like the looks, and the feature set is great. I hope it kicks the ass off the Sentra SE Spec-V and Civic Si.

I agree with kerry the power just didnt seem to be there, maybe it needed a little breaking in. But in the bigger picture theres gonna be a whole lot more aftermarket goodies available for the Focus which will make it scream. G

For more power, there is the Jackson Racing Supercharger which has been available for a while for $2400.00. Add that to the $18K for the car and you still have a pretty reasonable package and take care of the main shortcoming of the SVTF. You just have to deal with the warranty issue.

I though tthe SVTF handled very well and does not beat you to death in the process. The Focus has so much aftermarket support already, you can get just about any mod you want. Maybe that will motivate Ford to get off their butts and produce the Turbo Focus that they have on the SVT WEB site; that way you get the power and the warranty. My Contour has a few more years left in it, I will just wait and see.

I also drove a WRX; man what a blast! Just can't get past the looks though; maybe they will re-style it.
