Anyone know of a decent dealership in the S.E. PA area? I was thinking of John Kennedy in Conshohocken or Magarity in Chestnut Hill. Anyone else have any ideas?

Does it have to be in Philly? I've got a few great ones in South Jersey.

Mixed experiences with JK in Conshy. Generally OK, but they really botched the "stupid spring guard" install and took more than a bit of convincing to take them off (i.e. call to the service manager needed and 3 visits after they installed them without asking me or telling me that my wait would be about 3 hours longer than I planned on an unrelated recall visit). The salesman that kept trying to sell a car to everyone waiting for service really irritated me. Their parts counter guy drives a Contour at least. smile

My gf's family had luck at Magarity when they used to have Ford cars. So, I may try and take it there tomorrow morning.

Not sure yet, I dropped it off at Magarity today. Basically, this thread should explain it. They were booked for 3 weeks but told me to leave it for a few days and they would get to it. I hope so.

try the one in norristown on ridge.. They are ok, but not great. DO NOT take it to C&C in Willow grove they got me so mad that I ripped the "quality is job one" sign off the wall and launched it acrost the parking lot ;-)

About 1/4 mile from the guy that did my 3L. Works at a non-descript Aamco station across from the Country Club on Ridge. Highly recommended if you don't want to go to the dealer. Has a sweet new OBD-II setup (PC based and better than Alex Peper's). I was jealous of that, until he told me what it cost them. eek

$60/hr ($75/hr for in depth motor work) labor rate; has (and actually uses) all the Ford shop manuals on PC. Minimum labor charge is $30, so I imagine that's their charge just for a simple CEL reading w/o any additional work. They have a sign stating they have a surcharge for customer supplied parts, but they never charged me for that. They also farm out trans work to a place in Collegeville that passed the "Terry Haines sanity test" when they did my Quaife. If my trans ever comes out again, it's going there.

Fred is the owner (old guy), Dave is the mechanic (young guy - that's his white C5 parked outside), and they just got a new wrench monkey recently. Just tell them you know the guy who had his Contour rebuilt - they'll remember me.

Dileo's Auto Service in Jeffersonville, 610-539-5308.

(Dweezel, you asked for this before the breakdown fiasco; I figured I'd post it for all.)
