Ok, after sleeping like a rock and having my girlfriend put on about half a bottle of Aloe-Vera on my neck and face, I'm ready to report
First of all, I wanted to thank everyone for making me feel welcome when I got there. It was my first meet, and everyone was really cool
Also, it was my first time seeing an SVT, and to see so many of them at once was even more of an experience! My little Zetec has no chance against those monsters!
Chris was right though; once you go to a meet like this there is a downside; you'll be poor because you want to do so many mods! I got so many tips on things to do, like how to wire some fog lights, a good way to do my Instrument Cluster swap, and I found some Ford Racing 9mm wires for my Zetec for only $35! One thing that really got my goat was that no one there seemed to care much about the Contour (as far as vendors and such). Chris spotted one Mystique grill and headlight assembly, but that was the only Contour part there (except for headlamp bulbs...whoopee!) and one vendor actually asked me what a Contour was. I told him it was a Ford car and he said "Contour? I don't think Ford made a car named that" So I showed him my keychain with the Contour emblem on it and said "Well, what's this?". Then he muttered something about "Well, I don't have any parts for that car, blah blah". Also, as you probably all noticed, SVT's trailer had (I believe) every SVT model displayed on it EXCEPT for the Contour. One person said it best; "The Contour is the red-headed stepchild of Ford". If the Contour is so bad, then why was the Jaguar X-Type's body style based off of the Contour? I've got the die cast 1:18 model if you ever want to see. The interior, the dash, and the shape of the body (except the front bumper/grill of course
) all look very similar to the Contour.
I haven't gotten the pictures developed yet, but hopefully I'll have them back sometime this week and possibly scanned this week as well. Allen, I noticed you didn't get my car, too! One of them has half of mine on the right. (I was robbed!
) I'll post some of mine later
Now, I'm going to go put away all my crap from Carlisle and start planning my mods before SZ '03 comes! And Craig, I hope everything turns out ok with your car! Remember what I said about an extended warranty!!
