Well tonight wasnt exactly a good night for me. Beautiful weather and me having $141.00 go down the drain. How you may ask... Well tonight I was being dumb and immature, typical 17 year old and got busted going... what the cop said was 58 in a 40, but yet I looked at speedo before I got to him and regardless I was doing 50, but still, that would be less of a fine. So that now adds 3 more points to me, which Im not sure if my previous 2 were over a year ago (erased) or if they were with-in the year time (hoping not) because then I would still have some leeway in my points, instead of now if I do the slightest thing wrong then I pass the 6 points. So anyways tonight I feel like **** and Im pissed at myself for being some stupid. WHY DID I HAVE TO BE IMMATURE, WHY???? Oh well, now all I can do is pay the fine and await the letter with my points.

OK, so what do he write you up for? Using what speed timing device (I assume its VASCAR - time over distance, unless he was a statie)? There shouldn't be that much of a discrepancy between your speedo and his reading, and since there was you could plead mercy at the judge at say you never intended to go THAT fast.
Go find the markers the cop used as a measured distance (prolly big white lines over the road) and measure it with a tape measure. Then start playing with the math to see how little error would get you below 49 MPH. The cop would not be allowed to pull you over for less than 10 over. I know a guy who beat two tickets doing just that (must have been a nice judge though).
Oh, and PennDOT will be sure to let you know exactly how many points you have once you plead guilty/get found guilty of an infraction.

Your existing points take longer than 1 year to be erased.. In NJ, it's 3 years, and I believe it's the same in PA. Go to court. You might be able to plea it down to a lesser offense with the DA. All they want is your money, the points don't matter to them. I've done this a few times myself

Originally posted by Officer Cartman: Your existing points take longer than 1 year to be erased.. In NJ, it's 3 years, and I believe it's the same in PA. Three (3) points are removed from a driving record for every consecutive 12 months a person drives (from the date of the last violation) without a violation which results in points, license suspensionor revocation. From PennDOT info flyer that I can't link since it has () in the URL.

well I dont work tomm. evening so I will be doing some of that such as measuring, also it said that he was using VSPEC ?????? miles timed .0284 secs. timed 1.75 oh and date equipment was last tested 4/19/02
then in the remarks column he put "Def. admitted speeding b/c he was late for work. 7983/.2494 ref.-2 white lines" also I said I was in hurry but dont recall ever admitting to it. He asked why I was pulled over I said, simply for going in excess of the posted limit. Why else would he be pulling me over? duh. lol. anyways, any more suggestions are welcomed.

Sorry to hear about that. I do have a quick question. Was the Cop sitting on public property? If he was on private property than you can fight it. Police in PA can't sit on any private property to run speed traps. As far as the VASCAR thing goes... It is very easy to fight VASCAR tickets.

talked to attorneys and the verdict is maybe we can talk them down and I wouldnt get as many points, but looks unlikely of me getting out of it. Now if all is right then I found my first citation and it was back on 3/27/01 and this new one was on 5/17/02. In between there I did a stupid thing in my vehicle but the officer gave me a public misdemeanor charge and said it wouldnt show up on driver record, so in turn my first 2 pts should have been erased correct?????
EDITED: alright Ash Ill get in touch in the morning.
