I'm hoping to order tires in two weeks. Just not decided on RE730's or to go w/ the Nokians I had last time.

Maybe I should do a poll?! laugh

Yeah, but there's a Nokian Tyre company out of Finland that makes tires. I really liked the Z-rated tires I had on the last SVT but they were $186 a tire w/ a deep discount. That's why I'm thinking Potenzas this time.

It's cool your not blaming the tires but..since the last ones let you slide off the road I'd try something different. laugh

$80 a tire at what size, though? I need 215/45/17's.

I don't know if the tires let me slide off the road. I was driving for less than five minutes in extremely cold temperatures at very high speeds. I don't think the tires were the weak link in this equation, I think it was my common sense.

I just bought a set of 215/45ZR-17 Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP, but they are sitting in my living room... I need some warmer weather so I can clean/wax the wheels before they are mounted. I have on the 215/40ZR17 Kumho 712 but they are shot(Thanks Ford mad ). The Kumho's where ok, for a $89 tire pretty good. I would have to say it depends on driving habits. Luke@tirerack.com suggested the Firestone's based on my driving needs, 100miles round trip to work and I like stickly tires(but who doesn't) and I want more then 15-20,000 miles out of them. I had a set of Dunlop D40 M2's on my Mustang..... for about 12,000 miles. laugh But I never had traction problems, replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1's(Not the same but will last longer!).

If you like you are welcome to come check them out, and the fugly snow tires that are on the car now smile . East Stroudsburg isn't far from the Allentown Area.

So how much were the firehawks? Would you recommend them or the Kumhos? I have a 120 mile round trip for work so we're in the same boat!
Which do you like more, the 40 or45 series tires?
