From what i understand the water is only causing the crack because it rapidly changing the temp of the metal, another cause could just be running the brakes hard and not letting them gradually cool down. I would suggest that if you run on tracks or autocross you try to gradually lessen the heat on the rotors on the cool down lap or in the parking lot, the largest stress on the rotors occurs when you really them up and the park. Hope this helps..and there is always drilled rotors..im not sure what effect this has on a street car in terms of wear but in a high heat application it will only improve the life of your brake pad and rotors Scott
