Just returned from the local Ford dealer here in the desert and I have something you guys might find interesting.

I drop it off for the Heater Blower Resistor Recall and he asks, "What kind of car is it." I say it is a 1998 Contour SVT and you know what he says??? confused

"Special Vehicle Team did not make a Contour, they made a Taurus a few years back, but not a Contour." eek eek

I aked him how long he had worked at Ford and he told me 5 years.

I then showed him the car and the "SVT" manual it came with and he was very confused. laugh

Dumb A$$ wink

That's funny because I actually talked to the tech who was going to work on the car and he knew exactly what is was. He tried to cover for the service rep by saying that he gets Contours and Taurus's mixed up from time to time.

I said there was a little difference between a SHO and an SVT. eek

When i was out looking to buy my car, i asked a rep about the SVT. He told me that he had never heard of it, in fact he got 3 of 4 more people that insisted an SVT Contour was never made. I went insde, picked up an SVT booklet and proved them wrong. Instances like these prove that, oops, Ford forgot to market this car.

When I was looking 4 my SVT I had a salesman tell me that I wouldn't want the SVT version because the regular V6 was a waaaay faster car. We went out and drove them both. He came back a little confused.

My local dealer knows a bunch about the car. I had it in a few times (didn't buy it there, bought it in NJ) and the tech always tells me all the salesmen are always outside checking it out and talking about it. They aren't allowed to sell SVT vehicles there. I said hey man that's cool as long as they keep their hands off lol!

This is typical of my experiences at the dealership. It's really a shame, because for having such a limited amount of information to know to have a handle on the product, few of them do.
