Is it normal for KVR carbon fiber brake pads (on KVR drilled rotors) to start squeaking when they have only a few thousand miles on them??
96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth " mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

mine have been on for several weeks now and seem to work pretty well overall after taking their sweet time getting properly bedded
however....when cold they are a little rough and noisy but that goes away once warm...
doesn't help u...but TTT
95 contour se...dark blue...monsterflow air filter...remanuf atx...wiring harness recall or bust!!!96k miles...motorcraft awsf32pp plugs & red ford racing 9mm wires...kvr black plated cross-drilled rotors & carbon fiber pads...currently undergoing renovation...excuse our dust!!! are my dodgers for real????

Mine are squeaking just a tad, not enough to bother me. Probably just a thousand or a little over miles on them. They didnt squeak at all untill about 2 weeks ago.

Squeaks generally are not the pads squeaking or squealing on the rotors, the but pads vibrating against the caliper. Shims or anti-squeal goop keep that from happening.

-Lance I'm not sure if "keep that from happening" is quite the right phrase. "Minimize it happening" might be more correct. Sometimes you wont make it stop no matter what all you do, but you should still do all you can. It is also essential to properly lubricate everything that should be lubricated, especially the caliper slide pins. These two items are frequently what seperates an "average" brake job from an "excellent" brake job. It also sometimes helps to use anti-sieze where the rotor mounts to the hub.

Any brake caliper grease should be fine. Any auto parts store should carry some. My particlar preference is the stuff used by Volvo. Ford specifies the same clear silicone grease that is used for dielectric grease for spark plug wires.

Put a bevel edge on the leading edge of each brake pad and it will stop.This is common practice on race cars,the 90 deg edge to the rotor along with high piston pressures on performance calipers (4 pot etc) and harder materials causes the noise,a bevel edge stops it...

carbon fiber brake pads are the best pads but also the noisiest they were first put on drag racing cars because of there long life and there ability to absorb the heat so because there not used under the extream heat of a dragster the hard material tends to make more noise
