Using the brakes gets the rust off immediatley, usually a result of very humid air, like after it rains or if you live near an ocean/body of water/etc. Could also buy a can of brake component cleaning stuff from an autoparts joint (made by 3M, what I use). Cleans the rotors and calipers well, gets rid of the buildup, and helps remove some of the rust buildup. Could just get cryopreserved rotors.
