If your Cougar has rear drums then it probably also has the small front rotors. You should look into installing the larger front rotors as well. I hope that I don't sound like a broken record.

I have inspected the rear spindles of my car many times anticipating and trying to plot out this switch, one thing is really stumping me, where do the calipers mount? My spindles don't seem to be equipped with holes for the caliper bolts frown confused

Thats because you need the V6 knuckles to fit diccs on the rear....the drum brake ones wont work....

Nope I have the larger rotors (278mm) but smaller calipers and pads then the 98 E0's I believe? Which ever year that was that SVT switched from the bigger pads to teh smaller ones but kept the 278mm rotors, thats what I have. Now that sounds like a broken record (She gets around like a record raaaaap raaaaap )

Soooooo, you have the bigger rotors then??? :p :p :p

The switch was in early 98, Built on or before 1/98 was a 98(E0) and built on or after 2/98 was a 98.5(E1)...the exact date was something like the 10th or 12th I think(if there was one?). At least, thats where the break is when you look for parts at dealers....not that they know whats going on though. wink

I'm also working on a rear kit on a Cougar for a special order. Four piston NDL on a 12" rotor, spot parking brakes as he wished, and this goes with his 13" fronts with Billet SL Six calipers. Can you say 'way over brake?'

Can I ask what it costs to complete a brake upgrade like this? Exclude the price of seat belts when they tear after slamming on them! smile
